E’ letteralmente impossibile stare fermi mentre si si ascolta “Live 22th Anniversary” (sarebbe stato più corretto 22nd), il nuovo album dal vivo dei QuartAumentata, tratto dall’iconico live “Tamburi e parole” del 2010 e che festeggia i ventidue anni di attività della band locrese. Composto da diciassette brani, il disco è un delirante carrozzone, fatto di colori, parole, tamburi, contaminazioni, mondi e ricerche e ci restituisce un interessante spaccato della produzione del quartetto calabrese, formato da Paolo Sofia (voce), Salvatore Gullace (chitarra, mandolino, bouzouki), Giuseppe Platani (basso), Massimo Cusato (percussioni, batteria) e Massimo Diano (fisarmonica, organetto). A scorrere nella scaletta sono brani tratti da “Navigando” (si va da “Fimmana” a “Vai”, passando per “Vola vola” e “ ‘Mbiviti nattru”), da “Abballamu cu’ventu” (“Balla Petru”, “Non mi vogghiju maritari”, “Comu mi piaci”, “La morte apparente”, “Santu Nsertu”) e da “U mundu balla” (“Bella balla”, “Cococò”, “A storia è glià”, “U mundu balla”). A scorrere fra le pieghe della musica sono, invece, scariche di groove ad altissimo voltaggio, di cui sono splendido esempio l’infuocato pattern di batteria su “Non mi vogghiju maritari”, la trascinante linea di basso sullo sghembo reggae di “Santu Nsertu”, o l’organo quasi psichedelico di “La morte apparente”. Notevoli anche gli squarci d’Arabia, con un bouzouki in primissimo piano: è così che troviamo lo strumming fulminante di “Mbiviti Nattru” ed i fraseggi sabbiosi di “Fimmana”. Con episodi come “Vai”, abbracciata dallo splendido incontro fra mandolino e fisarmonica, poggiato su una tuonante figurazione di percussioni, o “Lu surtanu” si scende nelle viscere più profonde e pure del folk, mentre le tastiere languide di “Balla Petru” ci trasportano sulla sponda più strettamente latina del Mediterraneo, con colori caldi e sudamericani.

Il focoso crescendo dinamico di “U mundu balla”, con la sua variopinta coda strumentale, segna uno dei passaggi più intensi e muscolari dell’intero album. La riproposizione in salsa pizzicata di “Ostinatamente”, dal repertorio di Niccolò Fabi, volendo, ad onor del vero, l’avremmo anche evitata, ma il medley che ne nasce (e che si porta dietro un gran pezzo come “Nui simu”, con la sua collosa linea di basso ed i ricami del mandolino) rimedia in parte.
