7 brani intrisi di tradizione (quattro propri di quella calabrese, uno di quella siciliana e due omaggi a grandi del panorama italiano, Fabrizio De Andrè e Rino Gaetano) e improvvisazione tra sonorità africane e arabe, jazz, rock, tarantelle, canti ad aria, canti di lavoro, canti d’amore.
Un ensemble che esalta la cultura e la musica del sud.

“Calabria Orchestra Live” (Italysona – Calabria Sona) è il titolo del primo lavoro discografico della
Calabria Orchestra, in uscita oggi su tutti gli store digitali .Inoltre è disponibile in una edizione speciale e limitata di 300 copie in vinile su https://www.italysona.com

Un disco che riassume tre anni di intensa storia musicale, che contiene i brani che più ne hanno caratterizzato il
percorso artistico. Nata nel 2017 e concretizzata nel 2018, lo spirito e l’idea fondante dell’ensemble è mettersi a servizio del territorio del sud esaltandone la cultura, un collettivo che
lavora per la musica "made in Calabria" cercando di unire, coinvolgere e divulgare non solo la
cultura del meridione ma gli artisti e le loro idee. Delle sette tracce incise, infatti, quattro sono
proprie della tradizione calabrese, una di quella siciliana e due sono omaggi a grandi del panorama
italiano, Fabrizio De Andrè e Rino Gaetano. Molti dei brani sono introdotti da preludi originali di
Checco Pallone.

Nel disco, la cui uscita è stata posticipata di un anno a causa della pandemia e doveva essere presentato a maggio 2020 in un grande concerto all’Auditorium Parco della musica di Roma
(evento rinviato a fine 2021), si è deciso di dare spazio a due aspetti fondamentali: tradizione ed improvvisazione. Sono queste le direttrici di questo primo lavoro. Le tradizioni sono espresse in
ogni brano presente sui solchi del vinile. Ogni esecuzione rimanda a sapori ancestrali e sonorità della tradizione. L’improvvisazione, presente in maniera imponente all’interno delle tracce, è da
sempre parte fondamentale delle tradizioni, non solo calabrese, ma anche di quei mondi ospitati
all’interno del lavoro discografico, sonorità africane e arabe, jazz, rock, tarantelle, canti ad aria,
canti di lavoro, canti d’amore. Queste due direttrici confluiscono nell’idea principale che ha mosso
tutto il lavoro della Calabria Orchestra, cioè l’integrazione di musicisti e linguaggi musicali diversi.
Diretta dal M° Checco Pallone, la Calabria Orchestra, nata dalla collaborazione tra il Conservatorio
di Cosenza, il festival Radicamenti e Calabria Sona, è formata da 19 elementi fissi tutti selezionati
tra le migliori realtà musicali della nostra regione tra professionisti, suonatori identitari e folk,
giovani musicisti e ballerini, e strumenti jazz amalgamati a quelli della tradizione popolare, ritmi
mediterranei fusi con la tarantella, voci calde e appassionate affiancate a chitarre di ogni genere.
Ritmi travolgenti, suoni mediterranei e passione della musica calabrese. Ecco i musicisti che compongono la Calabria Orchestra, diretta dal M° Checco Pallone: Federica Greco (voce, bombo e
tamburello), Moussa Ndao (voce, djambe, taman e ngoni), Fabio Nicoletti (voce), Bruno Tassone
(voce), Angelo Pisani (fiati etnici), Alberto La Neve (sax), Piero Gallina (violino e lira calabrese),
Emanuele Filella (violino e lira calabrese), Paolo Presta (fisarmonica), Antonio Grosso (organetto e
fisarmonica), Massimo Garritano (chitarra elettrica), Valentina Balistreri (voce), Iacopo Schiavo
(chitarra classica e oud), Andrea Principato (chitarra flamenka), Carlo Cimino (basso), Enrico Gallo
(tamburelli e darabuka), Emy Vaccari (tamburello e danza) e Francesco Montebello (batteria e
percussioni).

Varie le esperienze che l’hanno vista già portare ad esibirsi anche con la presenza di molti ospiti (Morgan, Verdiana, Fabio Curto, Ciccio Nucera, Peppa Marriti Band, Cumelca, Anna Stratigò) in
alcune delle più belle location e festival calabresi: Grotta del Romito di Papasidero, Arena dello Stretto di Reggio Calabria, Radicamenti Mendicino Festival, Kaulonia Tarantella Festival).

La Calabria Orchestra nasce da un’idea di Checco Pallone e Giuseppe Marasco, con il supporto delFestival di Radicamenti del Comune di Mendicino, Conservatorio Stanislao Giacomantonio diCosenza. La direzione artistica è di Checco Pallone e la produzione esecutiva e management è diGiuseppe Marasco, realizzata nel gennaio 2020 in collaborazione con il Teatro dell’Acquario diCosenza, con il supporto tecnico e recording di Fabrizio De Rose (specchi opposti), mix emastering a cura di Cosimo Guglielmello.
